This research on the design and development of symbols to promote tourism via Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link is a research and development (R&D)

It aims to

1. Study the identity of the development of each railway station area and

2. To design and develop symbols to promote tourism

Using the in-dept interview method, the population group for data collection is residents in communities near the Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link and tourists who use the Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link at 8 stations, totaling 88 people, obtained by purposive sampling.

The results of the research found that the definition of the identity of Phaya Thai Station is “Heritage through time” with the Suan Pakkad Palace Museum and King Power Complex as prominent places, the definition of the identity of Ratchaprarop Station is “Taste of city life” with the Baiyoke 2 Building and the Palladium Office Tower as prominent places, the definition of the identity of Makkasan Station is “The gateway to the city” with the G Tower Grand Rama 9 Building, Jod Fair Market and the SWU Clock Tower as prominent places, the definition of the identity of Ramkhamhaeng Station is “Colorful Sports Stadium” with Rajamangala Stadium, NASA Street and Ramkhamhaeng Pier as prominent places, the definition of identity of Hua Mak Station is “Eastern Dimension” with Darislam Mosque and Prasat Museum as prominent places, with interesting highlights being the Airport Rail Link, Commuter Train and MRT Yellow Line converging, the definition of identity of Ban Thap Chang Station is “Looking at the Mosque” with Thap Chang Lower Mosque and Ban Thap Chang Station Market as prominent places, the definition of identity of Lat Krabang Station is “Ecological Way of Life” with Siam Serpentarium, Lat Krabang Walking Street and Mai Hua Takhe Market as prominent places, and the definition of identity of Suvarnabhumi Station is “Port Authority of Thailand” with the control tower and Charoen Suk Mongkhon Chit Bike Park as prominent places.

The results of the design and development of symbols to promote tourism found that the symbols were appropriate for use, accounting for 81.25 percent, with 81.25 percent agreeing with the consistency of the symbols with the area, and 83.33 percent viewing that the symbols helped promote tourism.
