Let’s get to know various careers in the film and digital media industry to understand their responsibilities and tasks in each position.
This is especially for high school seniors (Grade 12) who are deciding on further studies in the field of Film and Digital Media, helping them plan their future and choose a major that aligns with their desired career.
In this third session, we introduce another important role: “Casting Director”.

Get to Know the “Casting Director”
Each film has unique characters and personalities. The Casting Director plays a crucial role in finding and selecting actors who can effectively portray the story and suit the characters.
Within the casting team, there are five main roles:
Casting Director or Casting Manager
Casting Assistant
Costume/Wardrobe Department
Make-up and Hair Department
Technician
[Responsibilities of the Casting Assistant]
Responsible for selecting actors suitable for each role
Responsible for coordinating costumes, hair, and make-up, ensuring the actors’ appearances match their characters during auditions
Conduct acting rehearsals before filming and provide coaching on set
Negotiate payment with actors
[Personal Traits Suitable for a Casting Manager]
Personality traits: Coordinated, good communicator, problem solver, personable, empathetic, and positive-minded
Basic interests: Acting, directing, public speaking, coordination, budgeting, and finding the best solutions for actors
